Branching early access, new top nav bar, badge-optional Plasmic hosting
Branching now in early access
Plasmic has real-time multiplayer editing, but sometimes it’s helpful to be able to make changes in isolation. For instance, some editors might be tempted to hit publish while others are still in the middle of changes, or you might want to review and approve changes before merging them back into the main project.
Plasmic now has a powerful feature called branching. This lets you create branches, or copies, of the project, make your changes in isolation, and finally choose to merge your changes back into the main branch, resolving any conflicts encountered along the way.
With branching, you’ll be able to:
Iterate on changes on your own branch in isolation before sharing for feedback
Keep the main branch in a clean, always-deployable state, rather than coordinating different editors to be simultaneously ready for release
Review and approve changes before merging them into the main branch
Experiment with changes and keep multiple ongoing changes organized—useful for even a single editor
Properly attribute different changes to different editors
Document a clear historical trail of proposed changes and whether they were accepted or not
We are currently piloting this with enterprise customers before general availability. Please reach out to your account manager or get in touch if interested in enabling early access for your team.
And more
The project navigation menu—how you switch between different pages/components—now lives in the top toolbar.
You can now publish a site to Plasmic Hosting and choose to opt out of displaying any “Made in Plasmic” badge. So now anyone can for free publish to a custom domain without branding. We appreciate you spreading love of Plasmic any way you can!
You can now make any data available for use in dynamic values by inserting a generic Data Provider component from the component store.
