Figma component instance import
Converting component instances from Figma to Plasmic
Plasmic’s Figma importer can now automatically convert instances of Figma components to instances of Plasmic components or even code components of the same name, along with their Figma variants and props.
With its recently released variant and prop features, Figma is now one step more closely aligned with Plasmic’s approach to structuring components, making it easier to work across both.
This unlocks a workflow of continuously and incrementally (re-)importing Figma designs into Plasmic. For instance, you could import some base component designs, set up the variants/props/slots within Plasmic, then import more screens that make use of those components.
You can convert not only into components that were created in Plasmic, but also code components—React components registered from your codebase. This means that if you already had a full design system available in your codebase, which you’ve registered for use in Plasmic, then you can import screens from Figma that are using all the right components, with all their presentational props appropriately configured.
